Chairman Tsu-Der Lee Leads Delegation to Visit North American Alumni, Inviting All to Celebrate TMU’s 50th Anniversary

12/28/2009

In preparation for the upcoming 50th Anniversary of Taipei Medical University (TMU) and to share the university's recent milestones with alumni worldwide, Chairman Tsu-Der Lee (李祖德) and President Wen-Ta Chiu (邱文達) led a high-level delegation to the United States from November 20 to 25.

The delegation included representatives from "One School, Three Hospitals" and the Alumni Association:

Chi-Chang Hung (洪奇昌), Alumni Trustee

Chi-Rui Tseng (曾啟瑞), Dean of the College of Medicine

Fei-Peng Lee (李飛鵬), Superintendent of TMU Hospital (附設醫院)

Chun-Sen Hsu (許淳森), Vice Superintendent of Wan Fang Hospital (萬芳醫院)

Chih-Hsiung Wu (吳志雄), Superintendent of Shuang Ho Hospital (雙和醫院)

Shou-Cheng Chen (陳守誠), Vice President of the Alumni Association

The team visited three major alumni hubs: Los Angeles, Washington D.C., and New Jersey, providing briefings on TMU's current development and extending a warm invitation to all alumni to return to their alma mater next year for the 50th-anniversary celebrations.

A Remarkable Transformation and Emotional Reunion

Over 200 alumni participated across the various locations. Many, who had been away from the university for decades, were stunned and deeply impressed by the completely transformed campus and the exceptional performance of the three affiliated hospitals. The sense of pride was palpable.

A particularly moving moment occurred during the singing of the long-awaited school song, led by the Xing-Sheng Choir (杏聲合唱團). The familiar melody touched the hearts of many, bridging the distance between the university and its graduates living abroad and strengthening the collective bond of the TMU community.

Gratitude for Alumni Support and Philanthropy

TMU expresses its deepest gratitude to the local alumni association presidents and all alumni for their warm hospitality and generous support. As the university undergoes this "metamorphosis" and strives to join the ranks of world-class international universities, continued investment in essential infrastructure is vital. We welcome our 30,000 alumni worldwide to join this grand endeavor.
